That’s certainly a phrase that many of our Partners took away from Kris Akabusi’s motivational speech at our quarterly workshop.
That’s certainly a phrase that many of our Partners took away from Kris Akabusi’s motivational speech at our quarterly workshop.
He was by far the most energetic speaker we have had at one of our events and received a well-earned standing ovation at the end. He was so energetic that our cameraman Luke had trouble getting the whole session filmed as Kriss bounced from one end of the room to the other!
A self-confessed talkaholic, Kriss started by warning us all that when he gets excited, he does run around a lot and occasionally spit when he speaks – this put the front row on high alert, that’s for sure.
Within minutes, Kriss had all of us in fits of laughter with his stories and anecdotes – which was greatly appreciated on the graveyard shift of day one. His infectious personality (and rather loud voice) had us eager to hear what he was going to say next.
Most impressive of all was how Kris was aligned with our values and the idea of partnerships and team work. He likened his athletic training programme to a business plan – having a clear goal and set of deliverables with the support of coaches and mentors.
“Teamwork works, but it’s not common practice,” he said. “It’s great to see an organisation where it is, where you are encouraged to be a team and part of a partnership. The team as a whole is greater than its individual parts.”
After making us shake our arms in all kinds of directions, he pronounced: “Energy without coordination is chaos!” He was demonstrating that we don’t do what people say, we do what people do and that is exactly how we guide our Partners at PPP – we learn from each other and keep growing in our knowledge with every new Partner that joins.
We can safely say, according to the feedback of our Partners, that Kriss was a brilliant guest speaker. We’d even consider welcoming him as a Partner if he stopped flashing his medals at us!
